The Perfect Bit

A lot of people will ask what bit they should use or what bit will make it easier for my horse to do 'this' or 'that'. I believe bits are over complicated.

I believe that there is no one specific bit that will make your horse stop better or turn quicker. I don't believe that there is a specific bit that will make your horse soft and supple. What I do believe is, consistent training and having a good feel for release and reward is what will get you these things with your horse.

I find that most horses work fine in just a plain old basic snaffle bit. I prefer a western d-ring snaffle. I have no need for anything else with that I do, but for others it may be a different scenario. I guess the point I am trying to make here, is that a stronger or more complicated biting system may not be the answer you are looking for. The problem usually will fix itself with consistent training and good feel and timing.
